Join us as we kick off our monthly Aloha Adventures with a tour of Moku o Lo'e, also known as Coconut Island. Coconut Island is a 28-acre island in Kāne'ohe Bay used as a marine research facility by the Hawaii Institute of Marine Biology of the University of Hawaii. Our tour includes a boat ride to Moku o Loʻe, followed by a guided 2-hour walking tour. We will learn about the island’s unique private history, stop at the invertebrate observation/touch table, shark enclosures, and other coral reef research and island facilities.
The cost for the tour will be $20 per person. Non-Member guests can join with you for $25 per guest.
Children accompanied by their parent are welcome, but must be 5 years old or older. The facility strictly enforces this rule and you will be turned away if you bring a child along under the age of 5. The $20 fee also applies to each child attending.
If you are interested in car pooling, we will meet at the field next to PMO at 8:45 for a 9:00 departure to the dock. You may drive yourself and meet us at the Heeia Kea Small Boat Harbor (approx 20-25 minute drive from base). The boat will depart for Coconut Island at 9:30.
The will be no refunds offered if you are unable to attend.
